Landyn's First Week

Having a newborn at home means little sleep, but I LOVE it. She's so sleepy and cuddly.. it's the best! Now, having a newborn and toddler at home is a lot of work.. due to the toddler! Brooke really has adjusted well, she just seems more needy than before. She loves to help in anything I'm doing, and loves holding Landyn for short periods of time. I think they will really love playing together in just a few months!

Landyn has a fairly good temperament so far. She sleeps most of the day, and during the night she takes SO long to fall back asleep after eating, so that's been a little rough. During that first week at home, Collin and Leann were so helpful! All I really had to worry about was feeding Landyn and sneaking a nap in here and there. It was pretty great :) Things are a bit more busy now that he's back at work, but I am loving it. Children really are the best!

Her first doctors appointment went pretty well. She was born at 7lb 6 oz, when we left the hospital she was 7lb 3oz, and at 3 days old she was 7lb. We just went to her two week appt and she was 7lb 12oz! She is gaining at a great rate. Poor girl has an awful diaper rash right now, which is making her pretty fussy anytime she is awake. She poops so much!! Hopefully she will become a sweet, chill baby once it all heals up :)

Here are a few pictures from our first days at home. We can't get enough of our girls!!

We're all pretty sleepy around here ;)

Landyn Reese Gillaspie

Oh, Landyn. We couldn't love her more already! Throughout my pregnancy, Collin and I often talked about having another little girl, and it was hard to picture anything different than Brooke. Landyn changed all of that instantly! She came into this world with her own sweet little look, which happens to not look a whole lot like Brooke! She is so beautiful. I am doing my best to soak up her newborn phase after learning how fast it goes with Brooke. I could snuggle her all day long!!

We checked into the hospital to be induced Sunday night (3/19) around 8pm. All of me assumed the process would go very similar to Brooke.. check in the night before, start the induction process, and wait hours and hours to dilate. We told everyone not to rush to the hospital in the morning... around lunch time would be fine because it was most likely going to take forever. Well, Landyn had her own plans!! We began the first part of being induced Sunday night, and that was all it took to get things going. We didn't even make it to the Pitocin. Around 5 or 6am Monday morning, I began feeling pretty strong contractions. My contraction monitor wasn't fitted right, so the machine was showing nothing! I've never felt such pain.

I finally got an epidural around 7am after the nurse told me I was at 4cm, except it wasn't working where the majority of my pain was coming from. They gave me a few boosters and luckily it was in full effect around 7:20am. 7:30am, my doctor came in and was shocked to say it was time to push! The nurses took about 10 min to prep the room, and at 7:51am, Landyn Reese joined our family! 7lbs 6oz, 20.5 inches. I can't even describe the feeling when they placed her on my chest. My heart instantly doubled in size, and I felt like she had been apart of our family forever. She is meant to be ours.

Our families were surprised to hear how fast it all went, and rushed up to the hospital asap. The poor kids were dragged out of bed, but they were all there. Our families mean so much to us!

Here are a few pictures of sweet Landyn's birthday. Our hearts are so, so full!!

Landyn's Nursery

It's so fun to look back at Brooke's nursey, so I thought I'd share a few pictures of Landyn's.

We cannot wait for her to get here!!! Not only am I entering the miserable phase of being pregnant, but I feel much more confident this time. No nerves.. just excitement to meet our newest family member!!! My only nerves are for Brooke. She is such a little cuddler and has to be touching me at all times. I am worried about how she will adjust to mommy's hands constantly being full. I have no doubt she will love her little sister, but it's already breaking my mama heart that she won't be getting as much attention as she's used to. She's pretty content with baby sister being in mommy's belly! ha!

Anyway, back to the reason for this post.. Landyn's nursery!! I'm just not a very "pink" person, and I love how both girls nurseries have turned out!

and just for fun, here are a few pictures of Brooke's new big girl room!
